Prato, September 12, 2025 – "Personal interests come before those of the people: I resign from the leadership of the party." With this statement , the now former Forza Italia commissioner in Prato , Lorenzo Santi , announced his resignation from his position as provincial commissioner. The resignation was formalized at the end of this morning, following the submission of the electoral lists to the court and the completion of all the necessary bureaucratic procedures to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming regional elections scheduled for October 12 and 13.
"It's been just over three months since I received the mandate from the party's national leadership," Santi stated. "Three months characterized by pointless internal battles , during which it was impossible to work concretely and, consequently, to provide answers to citizens' real problems. This is not my idea of politics: it is a politics far removed from the people, one I don't recognize. I wanted to honor the commitment I made to the fullest, completing the electoral process without causing harm or burdening anyone, but now I don't feel like continuing." Santi is keen to point out that his departure from the party leadership does not mean abandoning Forza Italia, a group of which he remains a member.
The decision is explicitly based on an organizational, not administrative, disagreement. "I will continue to carry out my institutional work," he continued, "both in the Municipality of Cantagallo and in the Province of Prato. These are roles I have earned thanks to the people's trust, which is all that matters to me. Precisely for this reason, I cannot turn my back on them and submit to a system that doesn't represent me and which I no longer want to be a part of personally, putting my face to it."
The former commissioner concludes by denying any connection between his choice and the upcoming regional elections or the candidates in the running: "I would like to thank the candidates again for their willingness to participate and wish them all the best. I am proud of the team I have managed to build, and for this reason I will support each of them. I am now taking a moment of pause, hoping that Forza Italia, and politics in general, can return to addressing real issues of common interest as soon as possible."
